Welcome to Pour Souls

Pour Souls is Chicago’s newest interactive cocktailing concept. Our aim is simple – enable anyone and everyone to make fantastic cocktails on their own. Using fresh ingredients, small batch and craft spirits and hand made syrups, a great homemade cocktail is just a shake, stir or muddle away. Whether at our shop, at your home or your next event, Pour Souls seeks to bring our knowledge to you and take all the guesswork out of making great cocktails.

JUST ADDED – FORMER TOP CHEF CONTESTANT  SARA NGUYEN and POUR SOULS are teaming up for a Turkey 101 class. Join us as we walk you through the basics of brining, seasoning, roasting and carving a turkey, as well show you 3 seasonally inspired cocktails to pair with the bird. “Turkey 101” will take place on November 21, at 7:30 PM. Our good friends at Tenzing Wine and Spirits are lending us their beautiful kitchen and bar lab for the evening and are located at 165 N. Morgan (Morgan and Randolph). Paypal will be accepted, as well as SQUARE (email us for details) and QuickPay.

So dig it – we’re kicking things in to high gear for the upcoming Chicago fall and winter seasons and you’re here, which means you must care (which is awesome). It’s all good news so there isn’t really a bad place to start – I suppose going in order works.

This coming Wednesday will be the first Pour Souls workshop. We’re going to give some members of the Chicago food community a chance to check us out and tell you how dope the classes are – it gets old just coming from us right?

If you don’t know what Dose Market is, you should. Co-founders Emily Fiffer (DailyCandy Chicago), Heather Sperling (TastingTable.com),  Jessica Herman (TimeOut Chicago) and April Francis (AF, The Haute Closet) are some of the city’s leading ladies as far as food and fashion are concerned and have put together a shopper’s paradise. Combining great food, local designers and even my boy Floyd A. Davis’ DOPE Gentleman’s Boomboxes, the Dosettes have successfully created something the likes of which Chicagoans have never seen. Before we actually do the market, DailyCandy Chicago is going to feature Pour Souls this coming Wednesday – yes, that does make Emily our favorite.

Okay, okay, enough fawning – the point is, these ladies are doing something awesome and they’ve asked Pour Souls to be a part of it. Coming in January, we’ll be leading folks through some interactive mixology workshops AT Dose Market – come check us out, you might get to stand next to one of the lovely Dosettes (yes, it’s incredibly intimidating).

Moving on….

On November 12, Pour Souls will be leading some interactive mixology sessions at the Design Your Life event with the lovely Ms. Whitney Port. Needless to say, this is going to be an incredible event.

Let’s see….what’s next? Oh right. TIMEOUT Chicago’s Julia Kramer will be featuring Pour Souls in the first T.O. issue of November – sick. Obviously this is huge for Julia, we don’t really do interviews…we joke, we kid.

Lastly, Pour Souls is happy to announce that we were accepted into Indie Wed. Without question Indie Wed is the coolest wedding show in the city, offering independent companies the chance to connect with independently-spirited couples. Indie Wed will be happening January 28 from 10am til 4pm at the Ravenswood Event Center (4043 N. Ravenswood, Chicago, IL.).

That’s it…for now. Pour Souls would like to thank everyone who has “Liked” the Facebook page, signed up for classes, taken time out to speak with Tim at an event OR completely copied our product and renamed it – really, it all means a lot. Pour Souls, out.

Brace yourselves…we’ve been accused of “raising the bar”

Well guys, gals, and tipplers of all (legal) ages – we’re live. This past Friday we made good on our promise to throw one hell of a party in Wicker Park, and now we go forward with our weekly workshops and private events. It was a great event with tunes supplied  by DJ Tim Pabalan, phenomenal artwork supplied by local artist Jessica Price (jessicaprice.artist@gmail.com), some good food, great cocktails and even better people. So…what’s next? Well…tell everyone you know and let’s see what it’s going to take to fill up some spots.

Not sure how to explain what EXACTLY what it is that we do? Check out this awesome post by the lovely Ms. Jenny Seyfried about Pour Souls on “Postbox.Msn.com” – she calls it the way she sees it and lucky for us, she’s a certified fan.

…there goes the neighborhood.

So here we are…t-minus 50 hours ’til this whole thing gets really real. Pour Souls, the brainchild of owner Tim Williams launches Friday night and after that, there’s no turning back. Starting Wednesday, October 5, the Pour Souls Cocktail Club will be in full swing. Every Wednesday and Thursday from then on out, the Pour Souls crew will be hosting mixology workshops open to whomever get’s their name (and $) in first.

Covering topics such as seasonality, infusion, the basics of mixology and the informative “All Things [Spirits]” classes, Pour Souls will be doing everything possible to create a more informed drinking public (view class schedule here). In a city whose culinary profile is nationally on the rise, it is impossible to deny the value of having fully informed clientele. Through programming like WTTW, and “The Food Network” everyday food knowledge is through the roof and at Pour Souls, we seek the same increase in knowledge for those in Chicago who are tipplingly-inclined. By creating an atmosphere where people are comfortable, encouraged and even EXPECTED to ask questions, Pour Souls looks to take the guesswork out of home-bartending and relieve some anxiety when entering any one of the city’s myriad of cocktail lounges.

BUT…you don’t HAVE TO come to us. In addition to the weekly offerings at our space, we will gladly come to your house, office,    off-premise event or anywhere else you’d like to have some informative, interactive mixology workshops (view event pricing here). Or hey, maybe you don’t really care that much about learning but you know that regular old bar-caterers aren’t for you. You know those guys…they bring whatever married bottles they have left over in the warehouse and some sweet and sour mix that is a shade of yellow that most human retinas can’t handle and charge you like it’s going out of style. Yea, we hate those guys too. Why not have someone bring hand-crafted syrups, fresh juices, and small-batch, great tasting spirits to your event? Well intelligent consumer, you’re in luck – Pour Souls does that too.

We know what you’re thinking…”How can I NOT call Pour Souls about my next event…or at least go to a class???” – well, we’re not going to argue with you, we think our case is pretty compelling also. Give us a call or shoot us an email, we’d love to be there the next time you and your friends are drinking.
